Kathryn Miller Haines, Artistic Director

By day Kathy is a librarian, by night she is an actor and artistic director of Mystery's Most Wanted. When she's not committing crimes or charging fines, she's a writer. Her plays have been produced by Emerging Artists Theatre (New York), The Pittsburgh New Works Festival, Mystery’s Most Wanted, The Pittsburgh Pride Festival, and Babes with Blades (Chicago). Her plays with the Pittsburgh New Works Festival have won awards for Best Playwright (2003), Best Production (2004), Best Actress (2001, 2003), and Best Director (2001, 2004). Her play The Mistress was included as part of the 2003 Samuel French Best of Off-Off Broadway Original Short Play Festival. Her short stories have been published in The Texas Anthology of Women’s Humor and The Texas Anthology of Short Fiction. And now she's a novelist! She received the best mystery award at the 2005 Santa Barbara's Writer's Conference. Her first novel, The War Against Miss Winter, was published by HarperCollins in 2007. A second, The Winter of Her Discontent, will be out in June, 2008. A third and fourth in the same series are scheduled for 2009 and 2010.
